For 17-year-old Katrina Peterson, life is never the same after she finds out she’s moving back to California. Upon arrival, Katrina learns that the town has secrets, and at the heart of them is the mysterious and popular Jared, who’s been dreaming about her long before she came to Santa Cruz.

Only one thing seems to have all the answers: a map given to her by her mother. But Katrina wonders how long she can keep her own secret from Jared. Will he ever accept her for who she truly is? But, more importantly, can she?

A story filled with friendship, family, love, and even faith, Iridescent will take you away to the beaches and ocean waters of Central California, and on a magical journey in this coming of age book.

My Review

Iridescent is one of those books that I did not want to put down. I just wanted to continue reading even after it ended. It is now one of my favorites!

Kate aka Katrina lives with her aunt in Chicago and volunteers at the local aquarium along with her best friend Brandon. Soon after the book begins, she finds out that they are moving back to California. She will have to leave her entire life, friends and Brandon behind.

Once there Kate soon becomes friends with some great people and starts dating a popular guy named Jared. She has a map that her mother left her that she wants to find out more about. She soon realizes that the clues on the map will lead her to finding out who she and her parents are. There are many secrets that Kate must figure out to uncover the truth, save others and do what she feels is right.

I absolutely loved this book! This is one of the best stories that I have read in awhile. The story flowed along and had me hooked from the first page to the last. If is a fantasy set in California with friendship, faith and mermaids. The characters were fun to read and very likable. The ending left me wanting to know more. I can't wait for the next book to be released. I highly recommend reading this incredible story!
