My Review

Balthazar is such a great story that I would love to reread it sometime.  While it is Evernight #5 it is not set at Evernight and really has nothing else to do with the school.  A few of the students from Evernight do make brief appearances in this installment.

Skye is back home in Darby Glenn and ready to start school back at Darby Glenn high.  She doesn't really want to go back there but really has no choice since Evernight burned down.  Balthazar shows up shortly after Skye returns to Darby Glenn.  He is there to check up on Skye because he heard that she has been struggling with her new physic powers.  What they both will soon find out is that there are some very old and powerful vampires that have heard about her physic powers and what they can do for vampires.  Balthazar finds a way to be near Skye and protect her most of the time even when she is in school.  Things don't always go as planned and there is a lot that they must deal with.  Especially when Redgrave, Balthazar's sire shows up.  He wants Skye and her blood for his own reasons.

I really enjoyed this story.  While most of the story is set in present time with Balthazar and Skye the author does have interludes throughout the book.  It is here that we get a glimpse into Balthazar's life from before he became a vampire and then throughout his time as a vampire.  I loved learning more about him.  I really liked Skye too, she is such a great character and I loved her and Balthazar together.  I wish that the author would make a series of just Balthazar and Skye picking up where this book ended.  I would like to see what happens after the ending and where some of the characters ended up and if they have changed.  Overall a great read that I recommend!
