Summary – From Goodreads

Violet Ambrose is grappling with two major issues: Jay Heaton and her morbid secret ability. While the sixteen-year-old is confused by her new feelings for her best friend since childhood, she is more disturbed by her "power" to sense dead bodies—or at least those that have been murdered. Since she was a little girl, she has felt the echoes that the dead leave behind in the world... and the imprints that attach to their killers.

Violet has never considered her strange talent to be a gift; it mostly just led her to find the dead birds her cat left for her. But now that a serial killer is terrorizing her small town, and the echoes of the local girls he's claimed haunt her daily, she realizes she might be the only person who can stop him.

Despite his fierce protectiveness over her, Jay reluctantly agrees to help Violet on her quest to find the murderer—and Violet is unnerved by her hope that Jay's intentions are much more than friendly. But even as she's falling intensely in love, Violet is getting closer and closer to discovering a killer... and becoming his prey herself.

My Review

WOW, this book is a must read! I have had it sitting on my shelf for probably years now as I do many other books. I finally picked it up and started reading it. I couldn't put it down, it was so good! I was immediately drawn in from the beginning, to the wild ending.

Violet is your typical sixteen year old girl.  Her best friend is the super hot Jay that all the girls swoon over.  Although Violet is seems to be a regular teenager she does have a secret that very few people know about.  She can sense dead bodies, whether they are animals or humans.  They put off an echo that only Violet can hear or sense.

Violet spends most of her time with her best friend Jay.  But lately she has been feeling more like she is falling for him.  She doesn't know how he feels about her either.  While she is dealing with high school drama there is so much more going on with the plot of the story.  There is a serial killer terrorizing her town and killing girls, some that she knows personally.  Violet along with the reluctant help from Jay she heads out to try to find out who the killer is and stop him before he kills anyone else.  Will Violet be able to find the killer and stop him before it's too late?

The chapters that were the killer's point of view were very scary and a bit terrifying to be honest.  It gave the book a different feel while reading those chapters.  I loved the book overall.  I really enjoyed Violet and her personality.  Her friends kept me laughing throughout.  While it is a fantasy there is also a mystery to it.  There is also plenty of romance added into the story.  I can't wait to read the next book in this series.
